Google Tag Manager & Event Tracking Setup

R1 500,00

Google Tag Manager will show you exactly how visitors are interacting with your website – which forms they submit, which phone numbers they click, which buttons they press. Up to 5 custom events configured and feeding into GA4.

Description

Before you purchase: To carry out this work I’ll need administrator access to your WordPress dashboard. If you use a security plugin that restricts login access by IP address, you’ll need to temporarily whitelist mine. Full details on how to provide access will be sent to you immediately after purchase.

Google Analytics tells you how many people visit your site. Google Tag Manager tells you what they actually do when they get there.

This service covers the installation and configuration of Google Tag Manager on your WordPress site, plus the setup of up to 5 custom events so you can track the interactions that matter most to your business. Typical events include:

  • Phone number clicks
  • Form submissions
  • Button clicks
  • Email link clicks
  • File downloads

These events feed directly into your GA4 account, giving you a much clearer picture of how your website is generating enquiries and leads.

If you’ve already had your GA4 or Search Console set up through me, I’ll also migrate those tags to fire through Google Tag Manager as part of this service. This is the cleaner, more professional way to manage your site’s tracking – everything lives in one place, changes can be made without touching your site’s code, and adding new tracking in future becomes much simpler.

If you need GA4 or Search Console accounts set up, have a look here, and I’ll configure those to fire through GTM from the start rather than adding tags directly to your site.

Please note: this service covers standard event tracking on straightforward WordPress sites. If your requirements are more complex, for example a WooCommerce store or a site with custom-built forms, get in touch before purchasing and I can advise on the best approach.

Prices are in South African Rand (ZAR). For reference: approximately $91 / £68. Exchange rates used: USD 1 = ZAR 16.50 | GBP 1 = ZAR 22.20. Rates fluctuate – the ZAR price is what’s charged.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Google Tag Manager and why do I need it?
Google Tag Manager (GTM) is a free tool that lets you add and manage tracking codes on your website without editing your site’s code directly. Think of it as a central control panel for all your tracking. Once GTM is installed, adding new tracking in future is much faster and doesn’t require a developer.

What’s the difference between this and GA4 setup?
GA4 setup gives you visitor-level data: how many people came to your site, where they came from, which pages they visited. This service adds behaviour-level data: what those visitors actually did – did they call you, fill in a form, click a button? If you want to know whether your website is generating leads, you need this.

What counts as one of my 5 events?
Each type of interaction counts as one event. For example: phone number clicks = 1 event, form submissions = 1 event, PDF downloads = 1 event. If you need more than 5, get in touch before purchasing and I’ll quote accordingly.

Do I need GA4 already set up to use this service?
Yes – event data feeds into GA4, so it needs to be connected. If you haven’t had GA4 set up yet, you can add the GA4 Setup to your order, or I’ll set it up through GTM as part of this service.

Will this work with my contact form plugin?
For most standard WordPress form plugins (Contact Form 7, WPForms, Gravity Forms, Ninja Forms), yes. Custom-built forms or WooCommerce checkout tracking may require additional work – get in touch before purchasing if you’re unsure.

How long will this take?
3 – 5 working days (after receiving admin login details).

Refund Policy

Because this is a done-for-you digital service, refunds are handled as follows:

Before work begins: If you’ve purchased but haven’t yet provided access details, you may request a full refund within 48 hours of purchase.

Once work is in progress: No refund is available once I’ve begun the setup process. Access to your accounts constitutes the start of delivery.

If I’m unable to complete the work: Should I be unable to complete the service due to a technical issue on my end, you’ll receive a full refund. If access cannot be granted due to restrictions on your side (e.g. security plugin conflicts, missing permissions, or unavailable credentials), a refund cannot be issued, but I’ll work with you to find a resolution where possible.

Completed work: No refunds once the service has been delivered and confirmed.

If you have any concerns, please contact me before purchasing, I’m happy to answer questions.
