Description
Before you purchase: To carry out this work I’ll need administrator access to your WordPress dashboard. If you use a security plugin that restricts login access by IP address, you’ll need to temporarily whitelist mine. Full details on how to provide access will be sent to you immediately after purchase.
GA4 is Google’s current analytics platform and essential for understanding how people find and use your website. But simply installing it isn’t enough – without proper configuration, your data can be incomplete or misleading.
I’ll connect GA4 to your WordPress site, configure the core settings correctly, and confirm that standard tracking is working as it should. You’ll have a solid, accurate foundation to build on.
What’s included:
- GA4 account and property setup (or connection to an existing account)
- Installation and verification on your WordPress site
- Core configuration: data streams, session settings, internal traffic filters
- Confirmation that standard pageview and session tracking is working correctly
What does GA4 track by default – and what does it not?
Out of the box, GA4 tracks page views, sessions, traffic sources (where visitors came from), basic engagement metrics, and some automatic events like file downloads and outbound link clicks. What it doesn’t track without additional setup: form submissions, phone number clicks, button clicks, and other specific actions your visitors take. For that level of detail, you need Google Tag Manager and custom event tracking – which is what the GTM & Event Tracking Setup covers.
Not sure which you need? A good rule of thumb: if you want to know how many people visited your site and where they came from, GA4 setup is the right starting point. If you want to know what they actually did when they got there, add GTM & Event Tracking.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a Google account to get started?
Yes – you’ll need a Google account to set up GA4 – if your business email address is run via a paid Google account, you’re fine. If not, you’ll need to create a free Gmail account. I’ll walk you through exactly what access to grant before work begins.
I already have Google Analytics installed. Does that need to be removed first?
If you’re on the older Universal Analytics (UA), it’s already been sunset by Google and is no longer collecting data. GA4 is the current version and what I’ll be setting up. If you have both or an older setup, I’ll sort that out as part of the work.
Will GA4 track who’s filling in my contact form?
Not automatically – form submissions are a custom event and require Google Tag Manager to track properly. If that’s important to you, consider adding the GTM & Event Tracking Setup to your order.
How will I access my analytics data once it’s set up?
You’ll log into analytics.google.com with your Google account. I’ll make sure you have the correct access level from day one. If you’d like a visual dashboard that pulls everything together without needing to log in, take a look at the Data Studio Performance Dashboard.
How long will this take?
1 – 2 working days (after receiving admin login details).
